Hike 40 Acre Rock May 2016
Bob Bundy will lead the hike. Bob has explored Forty Acre Rock for decades and is an expert on the plants and the habitats of Forty Acre Rock. The hike will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the main parking lot (the upper parking lot on Conservancy Road) at Forty Acre Rock and will be limited to 20 people. We should finish around 4:00 p.m. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water and sun screen. Registration for the hike is required.
The entire Forty Acre Rock Heritage Preserve encompasses 2,965 acres of the most diverse protected area in the Piedmont region of South Carolina, including granitic flat rocks, waterslides, waterfalls, a beaver pond, caves, hardwood and pine forests, and a variety of wildflowers and wildlife. The Forty Acre Rock Heritage Preserve and Wildlife Management Area is also designated as a National Natural Landmark.
